A working designer and artist for most of my adult life, I was the kid who loved to make the dinner table as fancy as possible for family holidays. When I wasn’t doing that, I was in the corner reading my favorite books, amazed at the magic conjured by writers and illustrators. I thought I wanted to be an author like my idols, but the truth is that art was an equal draw. And once I made the art, I wanted to present it in a way that elevated it to something greater.
It was this blend of natural skills that lead me to study graphic design. And with the added element of problem-solving, I was hooked. After working in a number of professional design studios, I started my own practice way back in 1996. I’ve learned a few tricks along the way and like to think that my clients are the beneficiaries of my long experience.
Passion and inspiration
My other passion is psychology and human behavior. I have an insatiable appetite for learning about people and their journeys. It was an epiphany for me to discover how much design and psychology are alike. Each satisfies a need to make the complex orderly and understandable. Design has the added benefit of making it beautiful, too. For me, that’s about as good as it gets.
